Development of cooperation between Ukraine and Greece in the Maritime industry

In the period from 13 to 14 September 2016 at the Ministry of Maritime and island policy of Greece (Piraeus) held its First technical meeting of experts on development of cooperation between Ukraine and Hellenic Republic in the Maritime industry.

From the Ukrainian side the meeting was attended by a delegation of experts of the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine, composed of specialists in different areas.

During a professional discussion of various aspects of the bilateral Maritime cooperation, which took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and partnership agreements were reached on the further the development of cooperation between the Maritime agencies of the two countries and identify specific areas of such cooperation.

In particular, agreement was reached on mutual support at the level of international Maritime organisations and European institutions; exchange of information; assistance to the Greek side in the reform of the Maritime sector of Ukraine, in particular port infrastructure, in accordance with EU standards, as well as the joint processing of technical and economic aspects of the organization of ferry crossings between Ukraine and Greece.

According to the results of the First technical expert meeting there was signed a joint Protocol, which specifies directions of bilateral cooperation in the Maritime sector ("roadmap"), and also recorded the intention of both parties to create a standing Commission for Maritime cooperation between Ukraine and Greece.
