Few farmers export snails in European restaurants

Breeding snails on an industrial scale is becoming more popular. So in the Zhytomyr region have already started to build a snail farm.

This week, the winner of the competition, “the Best entrepreneur of the year" nomination «innovation in small and medium business”, was the company “Aulika" (Director Tymoshchuk Natalia). This company almost two years has been unusual for the economy of Korosten activity, namely the cultivation, collection and processing of snails. The processing and storage of such “raw” is a delicate one. Snails from Korosten exported to Lithuania and then to the best restaurants of Europe.

Another farmer breeding “snail” admitted that the initial investment in unconventional thing was just ridiculous: buying gasoline for a car to explore the surrounding area and collect the first batch of snails, construction of fence and the purchase of feed - bran.

Breeding of snails in the artificial “greenhouse” conditions also guarantee that the meat that is sold will be free from various contaminants - heavy metals, pesticides and other things. Breed snails well. They only need space. Normal conditions for their life created when 40-50 snails (that is about a kilogram) live on 1 square meter.
